 What's New for the 2017 Ford F-250?

The 2017 Ford F-250 is part of the SuperDuty series that took home the 2017 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. It is also one of the reasons that Ford has earned top truckmaker from U.S. News and World Report. This impressive hauler has more capability than ever before. It’s not just about the powerful engines. The build has been completely reworked. There’s more steel in the backbone and less weight in the body. Churning out 385 horsepower, the new 6.2-liter V8 is best in class. Torque thrust is rated at a rousing 405 lb.-ft. Since the truck’s new body is lighter weight, you can expect more push from every horse under the hood. Payload is rated at 3,450 or 4,200 pounds, depending on your choice of cabin and bed configurations. Towing is rated at 18,000 pounds with a standard hitch or 18,600 pounds with a gooseneck hitch. A new TorqShift automatic provides an effective tow-haul mode. Drivers push a button to tell the truck to adjust its settings to accommodate a heavy load. For the first time, Ford is offering adaptive steering on the F-250. This feature actively corrects for understeer or oversteer. Recognizing that these trucks need to be ready to work smart, the new engine is more fuel efficient, and there are more driver aids available. Trailer Reverse Guidance trains three cameras on the hitch. With one tailgate view and two sideviews, you’ve got help to line up the hitch safely. Making it even more useful, the monitor watches for jackknife conditions. A bed camera watches your cargo load or helps you hook up a gooseneck trailer.

Although it is primed for work, the F-250 is also able to take care of its driver and passengers. Consumers can get a well-appointed work truck or a premium ride such as the Lariat, King Ranch or Platinum. The Sync system puts a world of entertainment in easy reach of the driver’s voice or touch. Steering wheel controls complement the Sync3 touchscreen. Recognizing that truck safety is just as important as car or SUV safety, Ford makes it possible to get the latest crash avoidance systems. A blind spot monitor and a lane watch can help reduce side traffic dangers. Brake support comes with the forward collision alert. This system can be paired with cruise control for an adaptive co-pilot that reduces speed as well as maintains it. During a long workday, these features are sure to make a driver’s life easier. For towing, trailer sway control helps ensure stability. Ford is also offering a trailer tire-pressure monitor and a rear-mounted trailer camera. These are sure to reduce the dangers of maneuvering a trailer.
