Historically, the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro have been among the fastest cars in their category. Both muscle cars have competed with one another for decades and have continued to undergo performance and quality improvements. The 2018 Ford Mustang and 2018 Chevrolet Camaro are both powerful cars that each have potent trims that seek to outperform one another. Though the 2018 Camaro is a great car, we believe that the 2018 Ford Mustang is the better car overall due to several vital qualities.

Fuel Economy

The 2018 Ford Mustang is offered with three different engine options. The 3.7-liter V6 engine that was included with the 2017 Ford Mustang has been replaced by a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. The 2.3-liter engine is capable of achieving 21 miles per gallon in the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway.

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro is offered with more engine options than the 2018 Mustang. However, even though some of the engine options are more powerful, they are not as fuel-efficient as those of the 2018 Ford Mustang. The engine that compares closest to the EcoBoost of the 2018 Mustang is a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The 2018 Camaro's 2.0-liter engine is capable of achieving 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway in the Camaro 1LT model. However, in the 2018 Camaro 1LS model, the 2.0-liter only achieves 20 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

Range

The 2018 Ford Mustang, as a result of its slightly better fuel economy, has a farther driving range than the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro. Using the base engines of both the 2018 Mustang and 2018 Camaro, the Mustang is capable of traveling 400 miles on the highway while the Camaro is only capable of going 380 miles without a fill-up. The fuel tank size of the 2018 Ford Mustang EcoBoost is 15.5 gallons while the fuel tank size of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS is 19 gallons.

Dimensions and Comfort

The interior dimensions of the 2018 Ford Mustang are slightly longer than the aspects of the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro by 1.2 inches. Additionally, the 2018 Mustang offers 13.5 cubic feet of cargo space while the Camaro only has 9.1 cubic feet of cargo space available.
